This was not the desired increase for many Las Vegas travelers during the holiday season.

MGM Resorts International raised the cost of parking at its nine Las Vegas Strip hotels on Friday. The company is now charging a fixed daily rate of $18 for out-of-state guests from Monday to Thursday, and $25 for Friday to Sunday.

The price has increased from $15 for 1-4 hours on Monday through Thursday, to $20 on Friday through Sunday. The first hour is no longer free.

This modification was implemented on Wednesday without any prior notification to the public.

Nevada residents are still entitled to three hours of complimentary self-parking, with the exception of special occasions.

Complimentary parking options are offered to hotel guests, select MGM Rewards members, and current or former military personnel and their spouses. However, valet parking fees will not be affected.

Fee For All

Before 2016, free parking was a common feature of the Las Vegas Strip from its beginnings. In that year, MGM became the initial casino company on the Strip to implement a fee for this long-standing practice. They operate numerous hotels, including Bellagio, Aria, MGM Grand, Mandalay Bay, Park MGM, Mirage, New York-New York, Luxor, and Excalibur.

For a couple of years, many rivals offered complimentary self-parking as an attractive feature. In the end, everyone gave in. Even long-standing opponents Wynn and Encore gave in on September 28, citing pressure from The Sphere.

Currently, only Treasure Island, Circus Circus, Casino Royale, and Sahara provide complimentary parking for all guests. However, the Tropicana has begun charging for certain prime parking spaces.
