Marshawn Lynch, a former professional running back, will not face a DUI conviction or potential imprisonment as long as he fulfills the conditions of an agreement reached by attorneys in a Las Vegas court.

The Columbian shared an image of Marshawn Lynch, who was a former NFL player, after he reached a plea agreement in court in Las Vegas this week.

On Wednesday, the judge approved the agreement for Lynch, 37, without him pleading. As per the Associated Press, the terms of the deal include attending a traffic class, paying a fine of $1,140, completing 200 hours of community service, attending a victim impact panel, undergoing an alcohol evaluation, and staying out of trouble with the law for 12 months.

According to news sources, if he fulfills these requirements, his initial DUI offense will be reduced to reckless driving. As part of the agreement, the charges for failure to stay in a designated lane and operating an unregistered vehicle were also dismissed by the prosecution.

The agreement was made right before the start of a criminal trial in the case. Lynch is required to appear in a Las Vegas court in May, as reported by TMZ Sports.

Elevated Blood Alcohol Level

On August 9, 2022, he incurred charges due to his car being damaged near the Las Vegas Strip.

Following the accident, it was reported by ProFootballTalk’s Michael David Smith that Lynch’s blood alcohol concentration was .18, which is more than double the legal limit of .08% in the state. Lynch refused to take a breathalyzer test and instead opted for a lab test.

Lynch’s lawyers refuted allegations that he was operating a motor vehicle under the influence.

When the officers arrived, they found him sleeping in the driver’s seat of a 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500, which was deemed “unusable”. The car was parked in downtown Las Vegas.

According to TMZ Sports, officers from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) made Lynch lay on the ground and instructed him to turn over after they caught him.

According to a statement given to Las Vegas TV station KLAS by Richard Schonfeld and David Chesnoff, criminal defense attorneys based in Las Vegas who represented him in court, Mr. Lynch has not been found guilty of any wrongdoing during his time.

He has agreed to fulfill specific criteria, which will lead to the closure of this case as a reckless driving traffic offense.

Prior Arrests

According to Deadspin, Lynch had a prior encounter with the law in 2022. He admitted guilt for a hit-and-run incident in 2008 involving a woman. In 2012, he was initially charged with DUI but it was later lowered to reckless driving, to which he pled guilty.

Over a span of 12 years, Lynch was a member of three different NFL teams before his retirement in 2019. These teams were the Seattle Seahawks, Buffalo Bills, and Oakland Raiders. Prior to his professional career, Lynch played college football at the University of California and was recognized as an All-American.

Following his time playing football, it was reported that he was chosen as a brand ambassador for BetMGM.
